Harag György Company at Interethnic Theatre Festival

Between October 21 to 26 there took place at Miercurea Ciuc the 7th Edition of Interethnic Theatre Festival. It joins 13 theater companies from Romania performing plays in Hungarian, German and Yiddish languages. In addition to the Hungarian Theatre of Cluj, Yorick Studio - Târgu Mureș, The Csiky Gergely Hungarian State Theatre, Aradi Kamaraszínház – Arad, Figura Studio Theatre – Gheorgheni, M Studio Theatre - Sfântu Gheorghe, The State Jewish Theatre of Bucharest, Tamási Áron Theatre - Sfântu Gheorghe, German State Theatre - Timișoara, National State Theatre Târgu Mureș - Tompa Miklós Company, Szigligeti Theatre – Oradea, Harag György Company of The Northern Theatre Satu Mare presents the public on stage performance Antigone, directed by Balogh Attila.

Hard times turn on Thebes. The kings succeeds, brothers fight each other. Under no circumstances, Order wants to restore. Maybe now there comes the time for peace. Perhaps the city finally receives a competent king and people could live again, not just survive as before. But the harmony of the beautiful phrases and apparently impartial and fair judgments hide the air of madness. Where is this weak point? What is that sensitive nerve that is able to activate the system built with an artistic finesse? We can ask, as well: why it is called this play Antigone?
