The House of Bernarda Alba Opens the New Season of the Harag György Company

The Harag György Company of the Northern Theatre Satu Mare opens the 2017-2018 theatre season with Federico García Lorca: The House of Bernarda Alba, directed by Sorin Militaru.

„The play was recommended by Sorin, and I welcomed it, because the company has many excellent actresses. It offers us a great opportunity, presenting the woman's fate - very different, but it is still valid today – in a male-centred, male-dominated world. It is a special pleasure for me to have helped the work by major guest artists as Tóth Tünde, actress form Oradea, András Lóránd, choreographer, and Márton Erika, costume designer.” – said Bessenyei Gedő István, artistic director of the company.
Imagine a gossip Andalusian village where, one thing is more important than the power of tradition, namely what others think of us… In such a medium lives Bernarda Alba, with her five daughters, her crazy mother, and her two servants. After her husband's death, Bernarda, according to the ancient habits, changes the family house the prison of the grief. Her eight years convicted daughters, may contact the outside world almost through the windows and through the gossip of the servants. Their mother fears them terribly because it can seduce the sisters of the physical and the spiritual love.
”Can you feel this silence? Every room is stormy. if it breaks out, we all sweep away…”
