I'm out of the world, I'll be back!

The Brighella Puppet Theatre will present a modern puppet show for young children aged seven and up.

On 27 January, from 11 am, the Harag György Company's Brighella Puppet Theatre will hold its next performance. The puppeteers have staged Michael Ende's story I'm out of the world, I'll be back, directed by Nagy Regina.

Reading Ende's stories, the director became aware of the daily life of families of eight-year-olds, which, being small children, are often pervaded by sibling jealousy, childish anger, and resentment towards parents, in addition to the daily routine: I'm going out! And the story is the sequel. What happens when a little boy does go out into the world, who he meets, what adventures he has, and even if his imagination is vivid enough.

"This is a journey that the child and parent have to go through to find their way back to each other, and for the child to realise that being an adult is not so easy. It is a serious topic, and the text, the use of tools and the visuals are modern, which is why we recommend it for children over 7 years old", says Nagy Regina, the director of the production. She adds that the production is different from anything seen in puppet theatre before, so during the rehearsal process the puppeteers pushed themselves to the limit - but that probably contributed to the creation of a truly special performance.

It's not easy being eight years old, especially if you're a boy and you have a two-year-old girl to burden your growing-up childish soul. Yes! What happens to a boy with a vivid imagination who is not understood by his environment? Where is the end of the world, how long is the 'never to be seen again' street, what lies beyond the opaque blocks of flats? A great story for very young adolescents, lots of answers to lots of questions that concern them? Why don't my parents love me anymore? What would happen if I left the world? What is it like to grow up for a few minutes?
"People have different opinions about almost everything in the world: but they all agree on one thing: Soma can never stay the way he is now!"- Michael Ende
