Romanian First Performance of Kocsis István’s Monodrama at the Northern Theatre Satu Mare

Sunday, January 21, at 17 p.m., at part of Hungarian Culture Week will take place the premiere of the performance Jászai Mari, made by the Harag György Company in cooperation with Ady Endre Society.

The director of this public on stage performance is Tóth-Páll Miklós, the president of Ady Endre Society and life member of the Harag György Company, and played by Kovács Nikolett.

„One of the main objectives of the Hungarian Culture Week, to bring home those writers, artists, and actors who born in Satu Mare. All Kocsis István plays played the past twelve years were invited in the program of our event now, however, we created his Jászai Mari performance

The performance quotes the 20. century and the figure of Jászai Mari. She was one of the most popular actresses of Hungary and of Europe and, during the performance, we can follow her life path.

„It is a pleasure to be able to present a new performance as a joint production of Ady Endre Society and Harag György Company. The Roncsderby was our first co-production and this year we have a rewritten play that had its former premiere in Satu Mare” – mentioned Bessenyei Gedő István, artistic director of the Harag György Company.

The creators dedicated the performance to the memory of recently deceased former colleague, Gyöngyösi Gábor, who was an important and perhaps a little unfairly-forgotten creator and theorists was the company.

Real theatre, which will be the world's eighth wonder! Does not make an officer's foot there: it will be the theater of the devoted ones! … Blessed catharsis! Blessed be the initiation theater’s every holy rite: it’s enlightenment strength and power. The theater is a real spiritual center, a reception center... actor, you can be a priestess of the most holy initiation! You are powerful, you are strong, invincible!” (Jászai Mari)

Set design and costume: Szabó Anna, music: Moldován Blanka, stage director, prompter and assistant: Tamás Ágnes.
